The Gilman School's History of Sexual Abuse Allegations
The Gilman School for boys has a history of sex abuse allegations dating back to the 1950s. An investigative report commissioned by the school uncovered two former faculty members who were found to have sexually abused students.
- Dr. Martin Meloy, a former teacher and coach was alleged to have sexually abused 13 Gilman students on separate occasions from 1983 to 2009.
- Thomas Offutt, a former teacher from 1954-1956 engaged in repeated sexual acts with at least 7 Gilman students over the course of his employment.
